Description

Ermioni is a small natural cove located on the north-eastern coast of the Peloponnese peninsula, in the Gulf of Hydra. It hosts a picturesque fishing village and a small harbour generally used by fishing boats and ferries coming from Athens and the surrounding islands.

The small bay represents a well-sheltered anchorage. Is is, in fact, sheltered from almost all winds, except for an insidious southern breeze which usually blows in later afternoon, especially from 18:00.

Inside the bay, the options available are three: you can drop the anchor at the northen shore, at the southern one or look for a place in the tiny harbour, where depth is just 2 m and the maximum legnth allowed is 9 m. It is not a marina, so services are completely absent. In summer, the small port can be very crowded; moreover, it doesn't offer any good holding ground.

The best area where to moor is the southern shore of the bay, since the seabottom is quite safe and 15-20 m deep. Be always careful ,however, to the breeze mentioned above. The quay can receive about 20-30 boats. The staff of the taverns located along the promenade is usually kind and ready to help you while mooring and will provide you with water, electricy and free wifi if you choose to have lunch there.

You can also moor south of the entrance of the bay: the landscape is breath-taking but the seabottom is very deep and the area less sheltered

The village itself offers a gas station, some shops, supermakets, banks and a post office.

As an alternative, you can moor on the northern side of the bay, but this will be probably involved by the construction works of a new marina for yachts and superyachts.

Finally, you can choose the large bay of Kapari, whose southernmost side offers a sufficient shelter and a 3-metre-deep seabottom composed by sand, mud and seeweeds. In case of bad weather, we recommend, however, the sheltered Ermioni
